Hi, fellow travelers! We're Laura & Zickie, and we love "island runaways," whether in gorgeous Jamaica, funky Key West, or magnificent Martinique.

We got the idea for creating the Island Runaways blog from our combined passions for writing about and photographing idyllic isles, from the Caribbean to Greece. This isn't a business -- it's a labor of love.

 

Although IslandRunaways.com and our social media channels (like Facebook) are mostly on hiatus, we still post once in a while. We're always in search of the beautiful, the authentic, the unusual, the scenic, and the groovy...a life less ordinary, island-style.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We're a husband-and-wife team. Laura has written about travel, books, and art for places like the Miami Herald, Sculpture magazine, The Florida Keys Weekly, and Caribbean Compass. She has also guest-blogged for awesome travel blogs Uncommon Caribbean and Authentic Florida. Her latest book, co-authored with Florida Keys historian Jerry Wilkinson -- Hidden History of the Florida Keys -- was published by The History Press.

Zickie Allgrove can always be found carrying a camera -- sometimes even two! Now he's shooting with a drone, Osmo Pocket, and Insta 360 as well. This Kingston, Jamaica native has always got a camera handy.
