Tropical Cool at Aruba's Boardwalk Hotel
Have you ever wished an island was closer? Closer to your home base, I mean. That's one thought I have when looking at photos of Aruba, one of the ABC islands not far from South America's northern coast. This Dutch island is known for its graceful beaches and quaint gabled architecture. There locals speak Dutch, English, Spanish, and their own language, Papiamento. I can just imagine the Island Runaways exploring, swimming, sunning, and enjoying. One question that immediately gets asked when you plan any tropical island getaway is...where will you stay? Hmmmm. In Aruba's case we think we've identified an intriguing location, not far from the gorgeous Palm Beach.

It's called Boardwalk Hotel, and it stands amid a tropical oasis just steps away from the sand and surf. This small property prides itself on attention to detail and darling "casitas" decorated in a happy Caribbean style.

The creation of two sisters who were born on the island, the hotel is built on the site of a former coconut plantation. It looks like an ideal spot for a romantic afternoon lazing on a hammock...

With only 14 casitas situated among lush foliage, it's an intimate space, complete with a pool where you can chill out between forays to the ocean...

Amenities like wifi are free, as are beach towels and the use of beach toys for kids, beach chairs, and snorkeling equipment. Ready for breakfast? They will deliver it right to your casita, where you can choose to enjoy it on your patio, or perhaps you'll have breakfast in bed?

Browsing the hotel's website, we can't help but think it looks like our kind of island spot. And recommendations from the New York Times and USA Today Travel along with a great Trip Advisor rating only confirm our instincts about this eco-friendly destination.

Once again, the Island Runaways are completely seduced both by the images of a charming boutique property...and photos of Aruba. It just goes to show the incredible variety and beauty of Caribbean escapes. I've already "liked" their Facebook page. What do you think, fellow island lovers? Are we ready for a new runaway?
