The three Dutch Caribbean islands are often called the "ABC" islands, with A standing for Aruba, B for Bonaire, and C for Curaçao. But you could also say that B stands for beautiful. Although we haven't (yet) "run away" to Bonaire, the photos and reports about this destination leads us to believe it's a little slice of paradise. It's also world famous for its superb diving. So, when the Island Runaways came across images of a fantastic place called Harbour VIllage Beach Club this got us to thinking. Should we nudge Bonaire to the top of the list for our next island getaway? Pictures like this certainly look tempting:

Why are we so intrigued? Well, for one thing, the Harbour Village property on Bonaire spans four acres, planted with lush gardens. Then there's the marina and private beach where you can savor perfectly clear aqua-blue ocean. I think I'd enjoy lunch and dinner at their restaurant La Balandra, crafted to resemble a Spanish sailing vessel, and extending over the sea.

On an island escape, what kind of lodging would you choose? One of Harbour Village's guest rooms...or perhaps something a bit larger, like the beachfront one-bedroom suite? Then there are even more luxurious premier suites, and even beach houses to rent for larger parties. Wouldn't this be the perfect spot for a one-in-a-lifetime family reunion in the Caribbean? (Hmmm, now that's an idea!)

What else awaits their lucky guests? Apparently, a terrific spa offering all kinds of soothing treatments, and its own tranquil (and private) cascade pool where you can slide into vacation bliss.

The hotel also boasts its own PADI dive center, with dive instruction and dive excursions. Or, guests can rent snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and paddleboards to get out and enjoy the waters for which Bonaire is so renowned. I have to admit, seeing these photographs and reading the descriptions convince me that Harbour Village would be my kind of place.

Or, if I were cruising through this part of the Caribbean on my gorgeous sailboat (OK, this is now in the realm of fantasy), I'd love to dock at their marina and enjoy all the resort's amenities. Particularly this:

Clicking through the images on their Facebook page, I couldn't help but imagine the Island Runaways lounging on those chaises in the sand and sipping on cold rum cocktails. Maybe, just maybe, our future travels will take us to beautiful Bonaire, and we can experience the spectacular setting of Harbour Village for ourselves!
Have you ever been to Bonaire or the ABC islands, fellow island lovers? If so, hope you share your tips!
